Breining
Institute offers an 18-week FAST TRACK program for
counselors needing their formal education to become certified,
through both On-Campus and Distance Learning tracks. This 18-week
course is part of the regular 450-hour Addiction Studies
Certificate program, and includes the courses required for
certification as a nationally-accredited Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS).
Completing this
FAST TRACK program, which includes the required 155 hours of
formal alcohol and other drug classroom education - together
with 2,080 hours clinical experience and 160 supervised hours -
qualifies the student to test for the RAS credential with Breining Institute.
On-Campus Classes are held
only on Saturdays, and start in January and September.
Distance
Learning students may start at any time, and may work at
their own pace.

The Master of Arts in Addictive
Disorders, as well as the Doctor of Addictive Disorders (Dr.AD), degrees from Breining Institute fulfill the "Masters
Degree" requirement for the NAADAC Master Addiction Counselor
(MAC) certification.
One of the nation's premier
membership organizations for addiction professionals, NAADAC - The
Association for Addiction Professionals - with nearly 11,000
members and 46 state affiliates - serves addiction counselors,
educators and other addiction-focused health care professionals,
who specialize in addiction prevention, treatment and education. NAADAC and its MAC
credential are recognized throughout the United States.
Qualified Masters
and Doctorate degree holders - with additional clinical experience and
certification - are eligible to test for the MAC credential. For
