  RAS eligible for NCAC I certification  
 
 

The nation's premier membership organization for addiction professionals, NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals - with nearly 11,000 members and 46 state affiliates - serves addiction counselors, educators and other addiction-focused health care professionals, who specialize in addiction prevention, treatment and education. Professionals with the nationally-accredited Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS) credential are eligible for the NAADAC National Certification Commission's National Certified Addiction Counselor (NCAC) Level I.

  Why NCAC certification?  
 

• NAADAC and its NCAC I credential are recognized throughout the United States
• Once you have earned the RAS credential, you may earn NCAC certification.
 

 
 
  NCAC eligibility  
 

• Current certification as RAS; and
• Three years full-time or 6,000 hours of supervised experience as an alcoholism and/or drug abuse counselor; and
• 270 contact hours of education and training in alcoholism and drug abuse or related counseling subjects (including 6 hours of ethics and 6 hours of HIV/AIDS training)
