FAQs (frequently asked questions)
Q:
Which certification or licensing agencies are acceptable for the "current
addiction professional" certificate requirement? A:
There are many acceptable agencies located throughout the
United States, as long as they are accredited,
State-approved or nationally recognized. The drop-down list
below includes many of the agencies, but there may be others
that are acceptable.
If your licensing or certification agency
is not included on the above list, please contact us for a
determination, by sending an e-mail to us at
College@Breining.edu
that includes the following: 1) full name of the agency, 2)
the web site address of the agency, and 3) which license or
certificate that you hold from that agency.
Q:
If I have a degree in addiction studies, do I need an
ADDITIONAL 500 hours of education courses?
A: Probably not. Most degree programs in addictions
have substantially more than 500 hours. Your transcripts should show that you have
completed sufficient formal addiction coursework to meet the
education requirement.
Q:
Do "continuing education" courses qualify for the 500 hours of
AOD education requirements?
A: Yes. The qualifying coursework must be obtained
from a recognized provider that provides documentation of that course work,
which may include employer-documented in-house trainings.
Documentation from the training agency (on agency letterhead
or by formal certificates of completion of the training)
must be included with the MCA Application to be considered.
